Roof Design up to 75% Faster with new FRAMECAD Detailer

FRAMECAD® are excited to announce the release of some additional functionality in the FRAMECAD® detailer software to enable their customers to speed up detailing in the software which will further enhance FRAMECAD® Detailer as the market leading LGS Detailing software.

FRAMECAD® releases a built in Roof block command automatically places and builds trusses and gable framing, that in conjunction with the new Roof outline command can reduce the effort designing a roof by over 75%.

This new optimised roof detailing module can speed up roof design by up to 75% through the addition of an advanced automated roof truss layout feature allows you to make roof designs 75% faster and designs are optimised for more efficient steel consumption.

It is designed to make roof detailing easier and faster. Using FRAMECAD® Detailer allowing our customers to design roofs up to 75% faster than they had previously been able to.

Below is a quick guide on how to use the FRAMECAD® Detailer roof module.

Step 2) Using the Roof Block tool, properties can be assigned to achieve the desired truss layout.

Step 3) Using simple steps, the roof blocks can be identified and placed, with Hip, Gable, Dutch Gable or Saddle ends possible. The trusses will be automatically placed and built, usually ready for production.

Once a user has learned this simple process, roofs can be detailed quickly and accurately.

Addition features also incorporated in the release of this software are:
  • Add weights to printed reports – Calculated material weight, previously shown on properties dialogs, have been added to the summary reports for printing.

  • Material length and weight printed on frame drawings – Frame drawings printed from Detailer now show the calculated material weight of that frame, and total length of material in the upper left corner.

  • Production order maintained on imported jobs – Projects imported from Structure will maintain production order through to machine production.

  • Nog in Triple Stud Connection for connecting lower walls – For triple stud connections of lower connecting walls an option has been added to allow automatic placement of nogs. Positive numbers will place a nog that distance from the bottom of the frame to the centre of the nog, negative numbers will place the nog that distance from the top of the frame to the centre of the nog.

  • Dimples shown in VRML again – Dimples will be visible in the VRML 3D export. These were removed in a previous version due to discrepancies in the displayed location to their actual location. This has been resolved and re introduced.

  • Dialogs resized to fit low resolution screens – Some dialogs were too tall to fit on some low resolution screens properly causing difficulty for the users on those systems. These have been resized to correctly fit.

  • VRML object heights measured from plan – Previously, the height of VRML objects was measured globally, and the height of the plan it is drawn on had no effect on it. This has been changed so their height is relevant to the plan. VRML objects in existing projects will be updated when opened to reflect this new calculation. (Eg. A VRML Object on a plan at 3000mm, would have required an elevation of 3000mm to be shown at the same level as the other items on that plan. Now the VRML Object will be at 0mm off the plan, resulting in a total height of 3000mm (for the plan) + 0mm (for the object), totalling 3000mm).

  • VRML format changes – Changes have been made to the VRML format to be better handled in some VRML display programs.
